Thorium Reader

Thorium Reader (Windows, macOS, Linux) has a dedicated Catalogs tab and supports OPDS authentication out of the box.

Setting up the catalog

  1. 1

    Open the Catalogs tab

In Thorium's library view, click the Catalogs tab in the top navigation.

  2. 2

    Add an OPDS feed

Click + Add an OPDS feed. Give it a name (e.g. "AO3") and paste the catalog URL:

    https://ao3-opds.abelmuak.com/opds/v2

Thorium reads both formats well; OPDS 2.0 (/opds/v2) is the more modern option, but /opds/v1 works too if you prefer it.

  3. 3

    Confirm with Add

Click Add. Your new catalog appears in the Catalogs tab — open it to browse recent works and download epubs.

Adding authentication (optional)

If you want to see restricted or mature AO3 works, sign in with your AO3 credentials the first time Thorium asks for them.

  1. 1

    Open the catalog

Click on your AO3 catalog from the Catalogs tab.

  2. 2

    Sign in when prompted

If the server asks for credentials, Thorium will show a login prompt for that catalog (in recent versions, it opens your system's default browser to complete the login). Enter your AO3 username and password there.

Note: Thorium remembers the credentials for that catalog afterwards, so you only need to sign in once per device.
